Digital terrain Models

With the powerful workstations and lots of disk space, The Mapping Place can produce large areas of automatic DTM. Capacity is limited, however, in editing large areas economically.

Socet Set ATE is used for terrain correlation and stereo editing is completed using Socet Set Interactive Terrain Editor package. Terrain editing is completed in a TIN format using break lines to define the shape of the terrain accurately.

Two LPS stereo and automatic correlation licenses are also available so we can expand if need be. Quality DTM editing is still something of a specialty - we have clients that need high quality DTMs and produce typically 200 – 300 square kilometres per month

The Mapping Place can not compete with cheap editing shops on quantity or price, but we can win on quality.

Contours and Fly Throughs from DTMs are produced using LSS software. Contours and Grids are in ASCII, DXF or MOSS format to name a few. FlyTthroughs are delivered with a LSS viewer as a preplanned route and a virtual model.
